These photos were taken at the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa. I have no information on these images except the captions that are on the back of the 8x10 prints. The images are displayed with the captions as they are written on the back of the prints. Any additional comments that I may ad will appear in Italics.

CD1190- Entrance to the Rath Packing Company Administration Building. This company has public fallout shelters licensed, marked and stocked in it’s Waterloo plant for 14,874 people. (24-26 May 1968)


CD1178- Entrance to public fallout shelter in the basement of Rath Packing Company. This dual-use shelter is stocked with shelter supplies for 1177 people. (24-26 May 1968) They really went nuts with the shelter signs in this place. It's hard to make out, but there is even a sign over the door in the center of the picture. The rest of the photos show shelter signs all over the place.

CD1181- Dual-use public fallout shelter in meat slicing area of Rath Packing Company. It is stocked with shelter supplies for 2005 people. (24-26 May 1968)


CD1182- Dual-use public fallout shelter in storage area of Rath Packing Company. It is stocked with shelter supplies for 717 people. (24-26 May 1968) Another shelter sign.


CD1183- Dual-use public fallout shelter in bacon slicing area of Rath Packing Company. It is stocked with shelter supplies for 1177 people. (24-26 May 1968)


CD1189-Stairway leading to public fallout shelter area of Rath Packing Company. The shelters in this facility are licensed, marked and stocked for 3716 people. (24-26 May 1968) Look, how unusual for this place, yet another shelter sign!
