CD V-700 Meters

CD V-700 Radiological Survey Meters
AKA Geiger Counters
The standard CD V-700 measures gamma radiation up to 50 milliroentgens per hour over three scales.
It uses a Geiger-Müller tube to detect moderate and high energy beta radiation, and gamma radiation
down to low energies. The probe operates at 900 volts which is essentially the center of a plateau
extending from about 850 volts to 920 volts. The probe has a beta shield that can twist to open or close.
The Geiger Mueller tubes are halogen quenched, and mounted in a probe connected to a 36" cable.
Instrument accuracy on any of its three ranges is within ± 10% of the true dose rate from Cobalt 60 gamma
radiation. This accuracy is maintained throughout a temperature range of -20° F to +125° F, and
at altitudes from sea level to 25,000 feet.
The CD V-700 series of radiological survey meters use a meter for visual indication and a 4000 ohm
headset for audible detection of activity.
Battery life is 100 hours of continuous use. This is based on the carbon/zinc batteries of the early
1960's, newer alkaline batteries should do much better.
